Accessibility statement

This site is built to be usable with a keyboard, with a screen reader, at large text sizes, and on a slow connection. Here is what that means in practice, and how to tell us when it falls short.

What we are aiming for

Perry Butcher Co. LLC, which operates this website, is committed to making it usable by as many people as possible, whatever hardware or assistive technology they use.

The site targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is a target we design and build against, not a certification anyone has awarded us — if you find something that does not meet it, we would genuinely like to know.

What has been done

  • Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, in a logical order.
  • Focus is always visible, with a high-contrast outline that does not disappear against the page.
  • A skip link at the top of every page jumps straight past the navigation to the main content.
  • The navigation menus open on keyboard focus as well as on hover, and the mobile menu is a native disclosure that works without JavaScript.
  • Text and background colors were checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios; the brass tone is used only for rules and decoration, never for text.
  • Headings run in a logical order, one main heading per page, with real landmarks for header, navigation, main and footer.
  • Images carry descriptive alternative text, and purely decorative drawings are hidden from screen readers.
  • Every form control on the cut sheets has a visible, associated label, and hints are linked to their field.
  • Animation is limited to short transitions, and all of it is switched off when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Text reflows and stays readable when zoomed, and tap targets on mobile are comfortably sized.
  • The site is mostly plain HTML with very little JavaScript, so it works on slow connections and older devices.

Known limitations

The cut sheets keep your entries in your browser's local storage. If you have storage disabled, the sheets still work completely — they simply will not remember your entries between visits.

The primal diagrams on the cut sheets highlight to show which sections you have ticked. That highlight is a visual aid only: the same information is always available as text in the summary panel, so nothing is conveyed by color alone.

Tell us if something does not work

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, please say so. Describe what you were trying to do and what got in the way, and we will fix it. Access to Perry Butcher Co. does not depend on this website — if it is easier to telephone or call in, please do.

The quickest way to reach us is by telephone — the number and the counter hours are on the Visit page.
